Implants

Implants have been used for more than a quarter century to replace a single tooth, several teeth, or to support a full set of dentures. Implants are cylinders that are surgically placed in the upper or lower jaw where they function as a sturdy anchor for replacement teeth. They are made of titanium and other materials that are compatible with the titanum body and have the look, feel and function of natural teeth.  The placement of an implant generally is a three-part process that takes several months.

Dental Implant Surgery

Implants are surgically placed into the jaw, with the top of the implant slightly above the top of the bone. A healing cap screw is inserted into the implant to prevent gum-tissue and debris from entering the implant. The healing cap is kept in place 4-6 months while the implant fuses to the bone. In the 4-6 month waiting period , we will have you in for an appointment for impressions for a custom-made abutment (post) and a custom artificial tooth, called a crown.  The crown is based on a size, shape, color and fit that will blend with your teeth and feels like a natural tooth.  Once completed, the crown is attached to the implant post.

Single Tooth Implant

A single tooth implant replaces the missing tooth's root. A single tooth implant is a free-standing unit and does not involve treatment to the adjacent teeth. If the surronding teeth are healthy, they can remain untouched . The implant can stabalize your bite and help prevent problems with your jaw.

Implant-Supported Bridge

Dental implants may be used to support a bridge when several teeth are missing. The bridge replaces the lost natural teeth and some of the tooth roots.  An implant-supported bridge does not reguire support from the adjacent teeth.

Implant-Supported Denture

An implant supported denture tends to be comfortable and stable, allowing you to bite and chew naturally.  It is used when a person doesn’t have any teeth in the jaw, but has enough bone in the jaw to support their denture. The denture has special attachments that snap into the attachments on the implants to stabilize the denture and keep it tight and in place while chewing or talking.

Dental Implant Bone-Graft

In placement of an implant, the proper amount of supporting bone is necessary for a successful dental implant. Bone grafting is a surgical procedure to repair inadequate bone structure due to previous extractions, gum disease or injuries.
